What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Teatro alla Scala is universally praised for its stunning architecture and world-class opera and ballet performances. Visitors are captivated by the opulent interiors and the exceptional acoustics. However, the high cost of tickets and the potential for obstructed views in some seating sections are recurring concerns for some patrons.
"The museum has many performing art relevant collections. The theater offers beautiful forms of architecture. I definitely will schedule to see show here next time I'm in Milan."

"Went on self guided tour. It featured several rooms with portraits of composers and performers through history and a lovely exhibit on ballet. It was very short, and it did not focus as much on the music as the art of movement, but it is worth seeing the theater."

"Teatro alla Scala – Milan, Italy 🇮🇹
This legendary opera house is one of the most famous in the world. Built between 1776–1778 after a fire destroyed the old theatre, it was designed by the brilliant architect Giuseppe Piermarini on the site of the old church of Santa Maria alla Scala (where the theatre gets its name). Its horseshoe-shaped auditorium, grand red-and-gold interiors, and breathtaking acoustics make it a true masterpiece 🏛️🎶.
🌟 La Scala is not just a theatre, it’s the Temple of Opera. Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, Donizetti — so many of their works premiered here, forever tying this stage to the greatest composers in history. Even after being damaged in WWII, La Scala rose again and later underwent a massive restoration in 2002–2004, preserving its elegance while upgrading its modern facilities. Today, it remains a global icon of music and culture 🎼✨.
💫 And our experience? Truly once in a lifetime. Thanks to my husband’s friend, we not only had complimentary tickets but also a private guide who took us everywhere and explained everything in details: every floor, the very top tiers, even inside the chandelier! We got to see the backstage service areas and hidden corners that even paying guests would never have access to 🔑👀.
❤️ From history to hidden gems, every step inside felt magical. It wasn’t just visiting a theatre, it was stepping into the heart of Italy’s cultural soul. Without a doubt, the best experience ever at La Scala! 🇮🇹🥂"
