"Glad we made a reservation for Wednesday evening. A line quickly formed prior to restaurant open time.
We received a warm greeting while escorted through the beautiful atmosphere with a cozy vibe.
All entrees were delicious and beautifully presented by our outstanding server, Martina.
If the photos look delicious to you, then you will enjoy the item."

"Very peculiar place, with a unique style. Very interesting spot to have dinner. The food was pretty good with strange but fine combinations. The service was amazing and efficient (even though one time the brought us still water instead of sparkling, but ofc it could happen). They were all kind and caring and very friendly. We enjoyed this service so much. The atmosphere is amazing, it seems to be teleported in another world."

"Very nice restaurant with excellent servers and great ambiance and atmosphere! Food quality is good as well. I got the beef Wellington, spaghetti pomodoro, al ragu, and big burrata. The burrata is light and creamy. Good to share with others. The beef Wellington is very soft and cooked to perfection, but I didn’t like the sauce on it so I threw the bread away. The spaghetti pomodoro surprisingly was one of the best plates I had there. The tiramisu is soooo rich and creamy. Very happy with the experience overall"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider visiting during lunch hours or earlier in the evening to avoid the peak dinner rush and potentially a more boisterous crowd. The unique decor might also entertain younger diners. However, if you're looking for a strictly kid-focused menu or a very quiet environment, other traditional trattorias might be a better fit.
💖 Couples Seeking Romance
Opt for a reservation during the evening to fully appreciate the restaurant's ambiance. Dishes like the seafood risotto or the perfectly balanced Cacio e Pepe, followed by a decadent Tiramisu, make for a memorable culinary experience to share with your partner.
💰 Budget-Conscious Travelers
For more budget-friendly traditional Italian food in Milan, explore smaller, family-run trattorias away from the main tourist hubs. These often offer excellent value for money with hearty, authentic dishes at lower price points. Look for places with simple menus and a local clientele.

The Rise of Trendy Osterias in Milan
The appeal lies in their ability to create a 'vibe' – a combination of stylish decor, curated music, and photogenic dishes. While some might find the 'kitsch' or 'non-Milanese' vibe polarizing, it's precisely this unique character that sets them apart. The focus is on creating a memorable occasion, whether it's a dinner date or a gathering with friends, making the dining experience as much about the atmosphere as it is about the food.
These trendy spots often feature carefully crafted menus that highlight traditional dishes but may also include innovative twists. The emphasis on presentation means that even classic dishes are served in a way that is Instagram-worthy. This fusion of tradition and trend has made places like Gloria Osteria a must-visit for many exploring Milan's culinary landscape.
Navigating Milan's Culinary Scene: Osteria vs. Trattoria
In contemporary Milan, these distinctions can be blurred. Many establishments that call themselves Osterias now offer a more extensive menu and a sophisticated ambiance, like Gloria Osteria, which is described as having a 'non-Milanese vibe' and a trendy, kitschy interior. Conversely, some Trattorias maintain their traditional, home-style cooking and unpretentious setting. The key is to look beyond the name and consider the restaurant's reviews, menu, and overall reputation.
For those seeking the most authentic traditional Italian food, look for places that emphasize local, seasonal ingredients and classic preparations. While trendy spots offer a unique experience, don't overlook the smaller, less publicized trattorias that have been serving generations of Milanese families. Asking locals for their favorite hidden gems is often the best way to discover these authentic culinary treasures.
