What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mondello Beach is praised for its beautiful, clear turquoise waters and soft golden sand, often compared to the Caribbean. Visitors appreciate its family-friendly shallow waters and the charming Art Nouveau architecture. However, many note that most of the beach is privately owned and requires payment for access, with sunbed and umbrella rentals being quite expensive, even outside peak season. Crowding on public transport and the beach itself is also a common complaint.
"Really beautiful beach outside of Palermo, easy to reach via public transit grabbing the 806 bus. Plenty of spaces to sit around the beach, both free and for purchase. The water was beautiful and the landscape around the city surrounded by mountains is sublime."

"I arrived to Mondello with boat trip from Palermo. Really nice trip, not too far from Palermo Harbour near the city centre. Really beautiful clear turquoise water, many fishes. A very nice half day tour when in Palermo. I think whether we come to Mondello Beach with car or with boat, both are beautiful equally."

"Water is turquoise and clear, beautiful view and warm water with movie screen perfect sand. BUT:
It is crowded (even in the late season in September bus was so full we were like herings in the can, ticket was 7€/person from Palermo center), you really must pay for the daily ticket on the beach on everysection(tried every each of the different parts, even so it says obligation to pay only until 31 of August, what was ridiculous), and for the sunbeds with umbrella (after 2pm €28, before €35), if you don't want to soak your towels in the water on the very very tiny part of the beach what is for free. For this fee mostly they are rude and they choose the spot for you although you obviously more than capable to sit down and choose. 🤣 Sand is smooth and no stones but be carefull with cigarette buds (everywhere), more scammers in every two seconds than in other beach(eiter beachtowels, hats or beach accessories or massages, or coconuts etc..) For a nicer food you have to walk back all the way to the bus stop where they offer nice drinks and street food (ancarani), strongly suggested cause one of them fill you up for the day."
