What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Monte Finestra is a highly rewarding hike for experienced trekkers, offering breathtaking panoramic views that make the challenging ascent worthwhile. While the trail is demanding and can be confusing at times, the stunning scenery at the summit and the unique Malopasso pass are consistently praised. Some hikers find the route strenuous and advise thorough preparation.
"Stops on our itinerary from Tramonti:
Chiunzi Pass, Le Chiancolelle (antennas) where we left the cars. After 4-5 hairpin bends, a wide path begins on the right through the woods, which you'll find closed with a chain in case of hunting.
We continue to Tuoro Sant'Angelo (897m), Pietrapiana (955m), Malopasso, and the North Summit of Monte Finestra (1138m).
The route isn't for everyone...a minimum level of physical stamina and mountain experience is required.
The pass called MALOPASSO "stops" those with a fear of heights due to a sheer drop below the approximately 1m-wide path.
The view you enjoy upon reaching the top is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking I've seen in the entire Monti Lattari Park: with the sea in front of you, the valleys on your sides, and Vesuvius behind you, you're in a wonder that instantly makes all the effort worthwhile!!!
At the top, there's a small house where you can change clothes, complete with a picnic area.
Water near Pietrapiana, where the statue of the Madonna is located."
