Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Montepulciano for its stunning medieval and Renaissance architecture, breathtaking panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside, and the exceptional Vino Nobile wine. The charming, winding alleys and historic atmosphere are frequently highlighted as major draws. Some find the steepness challenging, and parking can be inconvenient.

"Magnificent town founded, according to legend, by Porsenna, King of Etruria, Montepulciano is an artistic center that bears mainly Renaissance influences. In the 16th century, under the architectural guidance of Antonio da Sangallo il Vecchio, Montepulciano became a prototype of an "ideal city." It offers views of the surrounding gentle countryside, typical of the Sienese territory, dotted with vineyards that produce the excellent noble wine (vino nobile) of Montepulciano."
