What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are captivated by the dramatic views into the crater and the panoramic vistas of the Bay of Naples. The park's natural beauty, including its pine forests and vineyards, is also highly praised. However, some find the souvenir shops overpriced and the paths challenging for those with mobility issues.
"Vesuvius National Park is an experience unlike anything else. The hike up is exciting and surprisingly manageable, and the moment you reach the crater is absolutely breathtaking. Standing on the edge of a volcano that shaped the history of an entire region feels surreal. The views over Naples, the coastline, and the endless blue sea are worth every step. Learning about the volcano’s history while actually looking into its crater makes the whole visit incredibly special."

"Worth the extra trip if you are visiting pompeii ruins. I went during low season so I cannot compare it during the summer.
If you are taking the Gran Cono Trail. Buy your tickets online with your parking ticket. It is paid parking in one area and limited on space.
Once you get to the parking area there is a shuttle to take you to the starting point of the trail. The price for the shuttle is 6 euros for round-trip or you can walk to the top.
Give yourself plenty of time from the parking lot, shuttle, then entrance to the trail. Be prepared to wait on the a shuttle they are packed and there is a line waiting.
Thankfully, they did not keep a strict schedule for the tickets. Probably because of the slow season. I got to the parking area an hour early but still got to the entrance 30 minutes late.
Overall, it was a very easy walk up with beautiful views.
Give yourself plenty of time."

"If you are in the Bay of Naples area the National Park of Vesuvius is a must visit.
Tickets are required to walk to the top from the drop off point, pre-booking is recommended.
It takes approx 45 - 60 mins to reach the top on a path of medium incline.
There are view points on the way to catch that breath and admire the surrounding area.
As you reach the summit you get to see into the crater and witness the sulphur and gasses escaping.....she is very much active.
There are a number of tourist market stalls on the way selling T-Shirts and trinkets.
At the summit there is a small cafe selling refreshments and space to sit and enjoy the views.
The decent takes approx. 25 - 30 mins."
