Visitors consistently praise Santa Maria Impensole as a beautiful and evocative Romanesque church, highlighting its unique portal and well-preserved medieval frescoes. Many appreciate its austere elegance and the historical depth it offers, though some note that a brief visit might not do justice to its intricate details.
"The portico itself invites curiosity, and the three steps leading up to it are a small effort, quickly rewarded by the beauty of the church's three entrance portals, the central one marvelously adorned with floral friezes, symbolic animals, and a medallion depicting a saint.
The Romanesque interior is divided into three naves, separated by columns with segmental arches.
The hall is austere and elegant, a hallmark of Romanesque architecture.
The fresco decorations on the walls of the two naves and on the counterfaçade lend Santa Maria Impensole exceptional artistic value, and one is captivated by the religious figures intensely painted by Umbrian artists active in Narni in the 14th and 15th centuries."
Michele Soldovieri
"It's a shame we almost rushed past it, but it's definitely worth revisiting... It has a unique portal with depictions of animals, such as a dragon, which have both positive and negative metaphorical meanings. Inside are splendid columns with Romanesque capitals, except for one depicting the prophet Daniel in the lions' den (he was thrown there because of his faith in God, but emerged unharmed). During restoration, they discovered medieval frescoes, some well-preserved. Small but truly evocative, it deserves a more thorough visit, which I'll reserve for next time."

"I paid a brief visit to this church during an afternoon visit to Narni. It's certainly not an ostentatious church, but it's elegantly maintained and contains some charming early medieval frescoes."
