"History According to legend, the sanctuary was founded thanks to an ancient wooden statue found by a shepherd in the 17th century, which miraculously cured the city of plague. The ancient sacral building was built in 1670 according to the plans of Nicola Ruiu Manca, and was later replaced by a church in 1946. Since 1957, the icon of the Virgin Mary has been in a new sanctuary next to the church. The Sanctuary The new sanctuary was designed in the 1950s by the architect Don Verri and has a high facade of polished granite, decorated with mosaics representing the fifteen mysteries of the rosary. All that remains of the ancient sanctuary is the facade, consisting of an ornate portal and a trachyte rose, which comes from the older church in Nuoro. The sanctuary as a whole consists of a very simple architectural design: an elongated space covered with a barrel vault, ending in a square presbytery. Inside, we can admire two altars, one next to the other, and the upper altar houses the Virgin of Mercy. A small wooden sculpture depicts a young woman holding the Child on her chest in her left hand, who holds the world in her palm. A cycle of frescoes from the 17th century, depicting the twelve apostles and other saints, is also worth mentioning. The mighty bell tower, also part of the former sanctuary, is also worth mentioning."

"The church, located at the beginning of Via Lamarmora, dates back to 1957 and is much larger than the older 17th-century Church of the Grazie, located in the Séuna district below.
It has three naves and is in a style I would describe as "neoclassical," like many churches in our country. The austere and essential exterior façade features 15 panels with biblical images.
