What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Poggio Antico for its exceptional Brunello di Montalcino and the stunning Tuscan scenery. The informative tours and passionate staff contribute to a memorable experience. However, some guests find the tasting portions small and the prices high compared to other regional wineries, with occasional comments on customer service.
"Very good wine BUT you will pay a minimum of 40 euros for less than 1 glass of wine if you do the tasting (bottles worth around 23 euros) & uncomfortable / poor customer service (tour guide). Highly recommend the nearby vineyards - like Poggio Rubino - where you will get around 3 full glasses of wine (7 tastings) AND a full 6 course meal for 40 euros. Don’t travel this far for a very expensive ‘tasting’."

"A warm embracing welcome when you enter the gates of this fantastic wine domaine. A fresh and modern tasting room is staffed by welcoming people who are not only passionate about their wines but passionate about the appellation in general. After a short presentation regarding the entire estate you’ll get an idea about the different soil types and locations of the vine yards. The tour is detailed and relaxed, our visit was during the harvest seasons so we actually got to taste some freshly picked grapes! The tasting was fun and can be adjusted to your liking. Starting with the rose and ending with the riserva, this house produces some extraordinary wines which you are able to purchase. Even some older vintages are for sale and pleasantly priced."

"We only had time to make one stop around Montalcino, but we're glad it was Poggio Antico. Excellent tour, we learned a lot about winemaking in general, as well as what make Brunello special. The tasting was very detailed with some great wines in the mix. We're certainly not Brunello experts, but being from California we're spoiled with excellent wine choices, and Poggio Antico would be up near the top. Highly recommended!"
