Planning Your Visit

Timing is Key for the Best Views

Visit during daylight hours to fully appreciate the bridge's architecture and the clear Noncello river. While the statues are visible, the bridge's unique history and surrounding scenery are best enjoyed with good light. Avoid nighttime visits as recommended by some travelers.

Understanding the Name's Origin

The 'Ponte di Adamo ed Eva' gets its name from two statues, Jupiter and Juno, mistakenly called Adam and Eve by locals. These statues, donated in 1718, are a key historical element. The bridge also has a fascinating, albeit unfulfilled, history of a movable central section intended for a never-built river port.

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Ponte di Adamo ed Eva a pleasant spot with clear river waters and a beautiful tree-lined avenue. The historical context of the statues and the unbuilt port adds an interesting layer. However, some note the statues don't strongly resemble Adam and Eve, and advise against visiting at night.

Giada Guzzo

"The portโ€ฆ never built
Once we reached the city, we parked for free on Viale delle Grazie next to the Church of the Holy Trinity and headed to this bridge. History says it takes its name from the two statues, called Adam and Eve, but actually depicting Jupiter and Juno, placed on the pillars and donated to the city by the Venetian lieutenant Antonio Loredan in 1718 after the bridge's third collapse. In anticipation of the construction of a river port on the Noncello, the central section of the bridge was designed to be movable to allow the passage of even taller vessels. The mechanical device was built, but the port, however, was never built.

"The bridge spanning the clear waters of the Noncello is beautiful. The wide, shady tree-lined avenue that runs along it is even more beautiful. Frankly, the statues of Jupiter and Juno, located on the northwest side, don't look like Adam and Eve. Oh well!"
