Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Oratorio di San Lorenzo dei Bianchi for its magnificent Baroque and Rococo architecture, particularly the stunning frescoes in the dome. The interior, with its period organ and historical artifacts, is described as unique, welcoming, and full of history. Some visitors note that the oratory can be closed unexpectedly, highlighting the importance of checking opening hours.

"Crossing the Magra River via the Cesare Battisti Bridge, we arrive at another small village characterized by the Church of Our Lady.
The bridge is medieval, as is the palace you see hidden by the church, while the oratory was rebuilt after the flood of 1732.

The Church of Our Lady dates back to the 16th century, when the oratory was built as the headquarters of the "Compagnia di Nostra Donna del Castel di Pontremoli," then of the "Società dei Disciplinati della Beata Maria della Neve," and then of the "Confraternità della Concezione di Nostra Donna."
With the flood of 1732, the church, located right next to the Magra River, had to be rebuilt. The work was entrusted to Giovan Battista Natali, who characterized it for his Baroque style in the decoration of the large dome, the apse, the chapels, the doors, and the organ balconies and gallery.
Inside, you can admire paintings by Galeotti, behind the first and second altars, and by Gherardini, behind the third altar, as well as a precious period organ and sacred vestments from the 1700s."

Carlo De Laurentiis

"This monument should also be beautiful, but it is closed. 10:05 AM on September 13, 2024"

Roberto Bacchiani

"This church is located in the historic center of Pontremoli. The church is one of the finest examples of Rococo architecture.
The current building was constructed on the ruins of the previous oratory."
