Reviews Summary
Guests rave about the magical and unique experience of staying in a functioning lighthouse, praising the stunning sea views, intimate atmosphere, and the adventurous journey to reach it. While the remote location offers unparalleled tranquility, some minor critiques include slow dinner service and the need for better maintenance on the sea access ladder. The hotel's charm and exclusivity are consistently highlighted as major draws.
"Our stay here is never the less magical like from a book. From the off road vehicle ride (super bumpy and jumpy) to the off beaten path location to leaving before the sun comes up to catch the first ferry ride was an adventure almost.
For every meal, we sat outdoor watching the beautiful sea to taking a swim in the warm sea, watching the beautiful sunset on our private terrace and star gazing at night is just pure bliss.
The owner of the establishment and their team of staffs were very welcoming, warmth and did their best to communicate in english and assist us in anyway they can. Food is not bad (fresh groceries delivery must be very challenging) and but can be improved and we do wished the dinner service can be more promptly.
Only 7 rooms, very exclusive.
Highly recommended to experience such unusual hospitality and stay at a functioning lighthouse.
Highly recommended !!"

"Punta Fenaio
Beautifully renovated, comfortable small boutique hotel attached to an almost 150 year old lighthouse in a remote location on Isola de Giglio (Giglio Island). Simply put, this is a unique and magical place. Worth the effort to find it, book it and get there.
The hotel is owned and operated by a charming Italian couple, Paola and Mario with a small staff of kind local young people. Everyone sweetly tried their best with English and with my limited Italian we made it work, but there were only a couple of competent English speakers. Other than us, guests were 100% Italian.
You must coordinate the transfer with the hotel as only ATV or Jeep 4x4 can manage the very rocky rugged dirt road (about a mile or more) that goes through a nature reserve. Once at the hotel, all your meals are a la carte at the hotel since it’s remote.
There isn’t very much to do at the hotel but we didn’t mind at all. You can explore the area hiking, swimming down in the sea, lounging in the sun and eating. We were there in August and it was hot, so we only wanted to lounge in shade. It was too hot for us to go hiking. We swam in the sea, the water was great. It was a little rough so we stayed close to the ladder. Loved it.
Our room was spacious, spotless and well appointed with a large modern bathroom, including a nice rain shower. We were on the second floor with a big terrace overlooking the sea. Fantastic!! Good bed and pillows, good air conditioning for the hot days.
The food was mostly quite tasty. You can get 3 meals per day, which we did, but in retrospect I would have been fine with just breakfast and dinner. There’s a selection of wines available and if you don’t finish a bottle they offer to hold it for you to finish the next day.
A couple of minor observations to encourage improvement. The dinner service was really slow and long spacing between courses was a problem. The staff apologized but I think they can improve on it. We enjoyed the beautiful evening overlooking the sea but this timing should be fixed. Also, some of the food came out lukewarm. Maybe use covers on the dishes since it’s windy and a bit of a walk to the tables. Finally, I think the ladder into the sea could be better built and maintained, the wood steps were slippery with algae (scrub with a brush), a little tricky. The nice smart tv in the room couldn’t play anything. We tried for a while but couldn’t get anything, didn’t ask for help but maybe include some information about it. Last thing, guys your customers like to use American Express. I know it costs the merchant a little more but you will find you get more affluent customers that spend more."

"The place is amazing, and unique.
Just 7 rooms. It is 2km from the nearest place you can reach with a private vehicle, then you have to rely on Mario to come and pick you up and travel the last 2km on a narrow 4x4-only road. Not for the fainted hearths. Then you have to walk the last 300m on an incredibly steep descent. Forget high heels etc.
once you get there, well: paradise!!!
Well done Paola and Mario"
