What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lido Comunale Zerbi is a place of stark contrasts, with a beautiful, clean sea set against significant urban decay and neglect. While its historical importance and potential are recognized, its current state of disrepair raises concerns about safety and upkeep, leading to disappointment for many visitors. It's a site that evokes both nostalgia for its past and frustration for its present condition.
"It's under renovation. It's obvious. But how long has it been going on? There are some parts where it's unclear whether it's in a state of neglect or just that. There are refreshment points. No, in my opinion, it's impossible to represent a city in these conditions, where most events are held at the Lido, but some areas can also pose a risk to personal safety. It's just my opinion...that's how I felt. The sea and the place are fantastic. It deserves to be experienced and explored without any inconvenience..."

"To be demolished and rebuilt. This would be like destroying a historic landmark in Reggio, as well as one of its most beautiful beach resorts. It was once used not only for its convenient location in the city center, but also as a dance floor and a gathering place for the locals, especially in the 1970s and 1980s. Now it's become a pile of rubble and filth. Neglect and decay."

"Decayed nobleman. In the 60s it was one of the most beautiful bathing establishments in Italy. In the 70s they wanted to renew it, implementing a project by Nervi. Unfortunately, as often happens the project was not fully realized and has since been left to fall into disrepair. And it's a shame, not only for its historical relevance, but also because it is located in the center, a stone's throw from the museum where the Riace Bronzes are kept... and you can also swim, because the currents of the strait keep the water clean... cold but clean."
