What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rifugio Elena is praised for its breathtaking glacier views and delicious cakes, making it a popular stop for day visitors and TMB hikers. While some find it lacks traditional charm and note cold showers, the option for comfortable private rooms and kind staff are significant positives. The convenience of the free bus from Courmayeur is also a frequently mentioned benefit.
"This was the best Refuge we stayed during our 10 days TMB hiking. We upgraded to private room where only 8 such rooms are available. It has bathroom and shower, no need to put your gears in the locker room on the basement. No Wi-Fi, but you can have cell phone signal at one side of the platform. The view is great, you have the Pré de Bar glacier in front of you. BTW, you can save your effort by taking a free bus from Courmayeur and only need to hike 1.4 miles to this location."

"Pretty standard refuge, good food and pretty good price. Dormitory half-board is 70 euros whereas double room half-board is 82 euros so it’s worth paying the extra 12 euros for your own room and private bathroom. The only downside is that the showers were cold."
Ned Sibley
"Nice place in gorgeous location serving drinks (hot and cold) and cakes. The terrace is large and the views stunning"
