What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rifugio Luigi Zacchi is praised for its stunning mountain views and delicious Italian food, particularly the Apfelstrudel and Frico polenta. It's a highly recommended stop after a rewarding hike from Laghi di Fusine. However, a significant concern raised by one reviewer was the presence of bed bugs, which caused considerable distress, though staff were reportedly apologetic and offered a refund.
"This chalet served amazing Italian food, it's the best Caesar salad I have ever had. Its Apfelstrudel is also authentic similar to what we had in Austrian chalets. And you have to try out their Frico polenta if you like cheese and polenta.
The view is amazing, a wonderful spot after a long hike from the lake Fusine to La Porticina."

"Bed bugs :(
Ooof, this ended up changing our entire trip. Was very excited cause it was the beginning of season and everything looked new and cozy. Woke up in the middle of the night to find bed bugs crawling on my pillow... Proceeded to bag my things and one was already crawling around my backpack, moved to another bed to find them on the ceilings. Then I found smaller ones. Complete nightmare. I am still dealing with cleaning and sealing everything, it has been such a stres. The staff the next day was very nice all things considered, they said they had done a 5 day disinfestation procedure, so they were very surprised and upset to still have the issue. They did not charge us for the night. One employee did suggest I had brought them over and should carry a disinfectant with me cause you can get them hiking....which is very rude especially since they already knew they had this issue. I think they did their best but I simply have to warn others about this issue."
