What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise the Parco della Preistoria for its immersive dinosaur experience and natural beauty, making it a hit with families. While some find the walking extensive and the entry price a bit high, the engaging recreations and live animals offer a memorable day out for dinosaur enthusiasts.
"What a great experience! I took my two children and they both enjoyed the park. We took the train and got off at the half way point. The train ride is about 10/15 minutes and takes you around the park. At the half way point, there is a big playground and children had so much fun. We took a walk, explored the stops along the way and had a blast finding our way through the labyrinth. The walk is a bit tiring for children, but you can find places to stop along the way to take a break. You can also find a botanical garden, a small museum and restaurants/bar."

Maurizio Muratore
"Had a great day 4 hours walking around seeing all the dinosaurs and the live animals. Visited both bars, very friendly staff. Myself, my wife and our dog enjoyed ourselves."

Exploring the Prehistoric World
Beyond the dinosaurs, the park also houses a variety of live animals in semi-natural environments. This adds another dimension to the visit, allowing guests to observe different species up close. The park's design emphasizes natural habitats, with areas like marshes, meadows, and lakes contributing to the overall atmosphere. This blend of prehistoric and contemporary wildlife offers a diverse experience for all ages.
Navigating the park involves a significant amount of walking along shaded paths. While a road train is available for an extra fee, it doesn't cover the entire expanse. This makes comfortable footwear a must. The park also features amenities like playgrounds, picnic spots, a botanical itinerary, and even a labyrinth, ensuring there's plenty to keep visitors entertained throughout their visit.
Family Fun and Activities
For added fun, the park includes a labyrinth, which is a simple yet enjoyable challenge for younger visitors. It's designed so that children can navigate it relatively easily, adding an element of playful adventure to the day. The presence of live animals also contributes to the family-friendly atmosphere, offering educational and entertaining encounters.
While the park encourages exploration on foot, the option of a road train (at an additional cost) can be helpful for families with very young children or those who prefer not to walk the entire distance. The availability of picnic areas also makes it convenient for families to manage meals and snacks throughout their visit.
Practicalities for Your Visit
For those considering the road train, it's important to note that it incurs an extra charge and does not cover the entire park. Therefore, be prepared for a significant amount of walking regardless. The park is generally dog-friendly, allowing pets on a leash, which is a plus for visitors who don't want to leave their furry friends at home.
Photography is a popular activity here, with the dinosaur models and natural scenery providing excellent backdrops. It's advisable to check the park's official website or social media for the most current information on opening hours and any specific regulations before your visit.
