What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are captivated by the historical significance of Roccasecca Castle as the birthplace of St. Thomas Aquinas and the absolutely stunning panoramic views it offers. However, many note that the path to the castle is challenging due to steepness and loose terrain, with some sections, like the wooden walkway, in disrepair, suggesting caution and good footwear are essential.
"Very beautiful location and important history ,the castle where Saint Thomas was born and his parents locked him in that tower for 1.5 years . Absolutely stunning views in any direction . The trail up from where you can park is wood stairs for a section and then trail with loose rocks and stones ,so if you are not mobile enough to do mountain trails I would maybe just walk to the church that's at the bottom and easy to get too."
Harald Harms
"It was a privilege to visit the birthplace of Saint Thomas Aquinas and take in breathtaking views from the Roccasecca hillside. If you're in the area, I would highly recommend stopping by. However, we did not climb all the way to the castle and cannot speak to the safety of that excursion. We were quite happy to see the Church and take in the views."
Alex Nikitin
"The wooden walkway is burned and in very bad condition, so be careful going up, but once you're up there you won't regret it. Such a pity this place isn't in better shape. It's absolutely stunning."
