"The Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II in Piazza Venezia is one of the most iconic buildings in Rome, often referred to as the “typewriter” or the “wedding cake.”
Built between 1885 and 1935, the building honors Italy's unification and first king. The building was inaugurated in 1911 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the unification.
After years of admiring the building, I finally went up to the top for the amazing views of Rome. You can also see a bird’s eye view of the new subway station construction.
I also visited the Museum of the Risorgimento (reunification), an incredible museum for any history geek."

"I have to say this is one of the most beautiful buildings in Rome. Unfortunately the Piazza Venezia is being renovated for the metro so it was quite chaotic with all the works, but once you enter the complex, it's a different world. The entrance to the main exterior building is free, from here you have such an amazing view of the surrounding city. We had bought the Rooftop ticket for 18€ , which give acess to some other restricted areas like the collumns. The views from the top are breathtaking, however at 11am, end of October, the sun was flashing almost horizontly so it was quite difficult to get a good picture. I'm sure at around 4pm would be better. But still enjoyed it and even though the entrance is not cheap, it was quite an amazing experience."
