What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Museo Archeologico di Rosignano Marittimo Palazzo Bombardieri for its lovingly designed exhibits, particularly the fascinating reconstruction of a Roman Domus and its collection of local Etruscan and Roman artifacts. The friendly staff and affordable entry are also frequently highlighted. However, some find the museum's layout confusing and note the lack of English information panels, which can be a barrier for international visitors.
"A very lovingly designed, small municipal museum. The rooms of a Roman country villa are recreated here, giving you a realistic impression. A few archaeological finds complement the picture. A minor criticism: The entrance is in the inner courtyard and is poorly signposted. The information panels and texts are only in Italian."

"A beautiful exhibition that's well worth a visit to understand the history of these places. (Free admission for those over 65.)"

"The Rosignano Archaeological Museum is as little-known as it is rich in artifacts. Spread across several floors of an ancient building in the upper heart of the town, Palazzo Bombardieri, already impressive in its own right, offers a huge number of local Etruscan and Roman artifacts. In my opinion, the visit could be better organized: the route isn't easy to understand and follow, and there are no adequate explanatory panels in English for foreign tourists.
There's a beautiful reconstruction of a Roman domus, perhaps not impeccable from a historical perspective but certainly fascinating, especially for younger visitors.
Recently, a 3D viewer was added to further explore the site of the port of Vada Volaterrana, whose artifacts are located here in Marittimo. The experience of using the viewer is interesting, but I recommend using it while seated to avoid vertigo.
The lady at the ticket office is kind and helpful with information; there's also a small shop in the ticket office."
