What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Certosa di Pesio for its profound peace, spiritual atmosphere, and historical significance. The serene valley setting and the opportunity for digital detox are highly valued. Some note that the modern parts of the complex are less interesting than the original structures.
"A charming and relaxing place. Founded in 1173 by a group of monks from the Grand Chartreuse of Grenoble. It can be visited at scheduled times, and private tours are also available. Donations are welcome. Spiritual retreats are available, and the surrounding area offers beautiful trails."
Ross Lelli
"We stayed overnight during the Cuneo Montagna Festival, and received a warm welcome. The place is very peaceful and quiet. Clean and tidy rooms, spacious bathrooms, and hot showers. There's no cell phone service inside."
Laura N
"A very large complex steeped in history, the original and austere first church dates back to the twelfth century, over which the more recent one was later built. The two kiosks, with their gardens and surrounding porticoes, are also beautiful. Due to Napoleon's raids, not many relics from that era remain. The numerous plaques on the walls recounting the history of the Charterhouse are interesting. Numerous photographs from more recent times are also present. It is undoubtedly a place of spirituality and reflection. However, it would be advisable to prohibit cars from entering the first internal courtyard as well."
