Ma non solo. Accanto c’è un grande sarcofago di marmo, che raccoglie i resti dei santi: Fortunato - Callisto - Cassino - Degna - Romana. Reviews Summary

Visitors praise San Fortunato Church for its profound historical significance, beautiful frescoes, and tranquil, green surroundings. Many highlight the unique experience of meeting knowledgeable friars who share the convent's rich past. While the unfinished facade is a notable feature, some may find the interior renovations have altered its original character.

"This isolated convent in the countryside stands atop a small hill about a kilometer south of Montefalco. Dating partly back to the 12th century, it was one of the most important religious sites in the Spoleto diocese during the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. We were fortunate to immediately meet Friar Vincenzo, who, with great kindness and pleasure, I would say, acted as our guide, recounting the entire history of the convent up to the present day. Today, San Fortunato is preceded by a restored and plastered square portico. This portico houses the beautiful Cappella delle Rose, frescoed in 1512, featuring frescoes depicting the Episodes of the Porziuncola Indulgence, Franciscan Saints, Christ on the Sepulchre, and so on.
The church features a small door surmounted by an arch with frescoes dominated by the Madonna and Child. The single-nave interior is modest. The church itself underwent a recent renovation, transforming it completely into white except for two side altars, the one on the right dedicated to Saint Fortunatus. On the left, as you enter, is a small, ancient chapel containing a 4th-century stone sarcophagus of Saint Severus. Above, a copy of Benozzo Gozzoli's exquisite panel (the original is in the Vatican Pinacoteca), centered on the Virgin of the Assumption surrounded by Saints. At the base is a series of smaller panels depicting the life of the Madonna, undoubtedly the most significant and important work in this church."
