Reviews Summary

Visitors find Tharros to be a historically significant site with beautiful sea views, offering a glimpse into ancient civilizations. While the ruins are interesting, some reviewers note a lack of detailed information on-site and suggest utilizing an app or guide for a richer experience. The surrounding natural beauty and nearby beaches are also frequently praised.

"It is well worth the visit to learn about the ancient city that lasted for many centuries before and after the Romans. There is an app to download so you can have a commentary in your language. It is very informative.
Some of the best ruins were the bathhouses, which show that they took hygiene very seriously. Great view back to the tower and out to sea.
Interesting to learn about the water and sewage system of the time. It was much like it is for us now."

"It was extremely interesting!
Staff is very kind and helpful, provides with free brochures that explain the area and the archaeological ruins.
The place is very well kept and taken care of.
The view from the top is amazing, absolutely worth visiting.
There's beaches in the area and at least 3 bar/restaurants on the coast, for refreshments.

➡️ there's a little walk up from the paid parking area but nothing too hard, and two free potable water fountains on the walkway."

"It’s not clear online you have to pay for everything. Parking is 3€ for 2h or 5€ for 5h. It’s a short walk up to the ticket office, passing some nice beaches. All the ruins are fenced off (and there’s currently a bunch of construction going on). There is a 5€ train-car tour on top of the entrance fee (4€ for tower and 9€ for the rest summer prices), 30min to see all the sights. We’re here on a hiking holiday and hoped we could walk around, not enter a tourist trap. Not worth it for us!"
