What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Piazza Chigi San Quirico beautiful, especially for its magnificent frescoes and the vibrant atmosphere during events like the Val D'Orcia wine festival. The free entry is a significant plus. However, some have noted that certain exhibitions can be underwhelming or incomplete due to ongoing restoration.
"My wife and I attended the Val D'Orcia wine festival on April 25 2018. It was held here in this building and it was a wonderful experience! There were 18 vineyards who all brought delicious wine for us to taste. In addition to the wine, some of the vineyards also brought different types of cheeses, chorizo, truffles chips, olive oils, etc. The owners of the vineyards were all very kind to us and told us all about their process and the history of their vineyards. The cost was €7 each and we spent over 2 hours at the event. It was well worth our time!"

The Art and History of Piazza Chigi San Quirico
Beyond its artistic value, the piazza also serves as a local administration office and an expo city area. This dual purpose means it's a living part of the community, not just a static monument. Visitors might encounter local government activities alongside temporary art installations or cultural events, such as the popular Val D'Orcia wine festival.
When planning a visit, it's advisable to check for any ongoing exhibitions or events. While some past exhibitions have been noted as not fully set up, the potential for experiencing local culture, like wine tasting with vineyard owners, makes it a worthwhile stop. The free entry to the main areas adds to its appeal for budget-conscious travelers.

These festivals are highly praised for their welcoming atmosphere and the quality of local produce. Visitors often spend several hours engaging with the vineyard owners, learning about their winemaking processes and the history of their estates. The modest entry fee of around €7 is considered excellent value for the experience.
While the piazza is a fantastic venue for festivals, it's important to note that the setup for other exhibitions, like the Barbarossa Exhibition, has sometimes been less than ideal, with rooms reported as empty. Therefore, checking the specifics of any planned event beforehand is recommended to manage expectations.
