"The church is known for its devotional dimension, fostered over time by the image of the Virgin of Graces, who, in popular imagination, protected and comforted the Biturgian community from natural disasters that were particularly devastating to the local population.
After visiting the interior, the traveler paused to observe the radiant image of the Madonna, painted on wood in the sixteenth century by Raffaellino del Colle and later placed on the central altar. The painter depicted the Virgin with her hands open before her chest, with two little angels above her in the act of crowning her, and two other angels positioned at her sides.
The gaze, moving from the venerable image of the Virgin of Graces, then rests on a marvelous seventeenth-century coffered ceiling, with exquisite wood carvings.
The side altars are decorated in stucco and embellished with beautiful eighteenth-century paintings.

"The sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie was founded in the 16th century by the Confraternity of Death. The church, a splendid example of Renaissance architecture, was built thanks to funds raised by the confraternity. The painter Raffaellino was commissioned to create the icon for the main altar, depicting Our Lady of Grace. The church became an object of popular veneration, with numerous votive offerings, especially during disasters such as earthquakes and epidemics. A major restoration in 1899 brought to light the marvelous carved wooden ceiling (which had been clumsily covered with plaster)."
