Reviews Summary

Maratea is overwhelmingly praised for its spectacular natural beauty, particularly the breathtaking views from the Christ the Redeemer statue and the dramatic Tyrrhenian coastline. Visitors consistently highlight the charm of the historic hilltop village and the rewarding experience of exploring its winding streets. While some note the challenging roads and potential for crowds in peak season, the overall sentiment is one of awe and a strong recommendation to visit.

"Maratea!!! One of the most beautiful villages in Basilicata. It overlooks the Tyrrhenian Gulf of Policastro!!! It is not for nothing that the gulf embraces Salerno, Potenza, Cosenza. Like Cilento in Campania, Maratea is surrounded by the sea and mountains. Spectacle of nature: overhangs over the sea and crystal clear waters. Christ the Redeemer, on Mount San Biagio at about 600 meters above sea level, seems to have his face turned towards the sea but instead he is behind him as a sign of benevolence and hope. The Sanctuary of San Biagio, protector of the city, is located in front of the statue, there are the relics of the Saint. The hairpin bends at the foot of the statue provide a spectacular viewpoint. The summit can be reached from the car parks either by shuttle or on foot. The distance of about 1.3 km is short but very spectacular because it can be reached via a path that allows you to discover Christ in every position always facing the traveller. The influx of tourists does not prevent you from admiring the entire panorama of cliffs, overhangs and mountains. Beautiful, beautiful. Absolutely worth visiting!!"

"Spectacular view of the entire Tyrrhenian coast of Basilicata + Calabria + Campania. At dawn, at dusk or on any day when clouds and sea are on display, it is a place where you return and return and return. Nothing else to add: it deserves more visits, combined with Maratea and the port of Maratea"
