What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often find the Santi Cosma e Damiano Church to be a hidden gem, with its interior beauty far surpassing its unassuming exterior. While some historical elements show signs of wear and require restoration, the vibrant frescoes, decorated ceiling, and significant relics offer a rich spiritual and artistic experience.
"I lived here for 12 years, until 1998. The new altar, 2019, is acceptable. The new ambo is not in keeping with the 16th century interior. I am glad that some of the relics are venerated in a glass chamber under the altar. Many fine details of the side retablos were stolen or damaged and alas are not correctly restored. Water infiltrations are once again marring the 17th century frescoes. The 1987 restorations need refreshing. Glad to see the medieval crucifix in place, and the 18th century tracker action organ still functioning."
