Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Jewish Mikveh Ortigia as a sacred and historically significant site, particularly its status as Europe's oldest and largest Jewish bath. The guided tours are often highlighted for their insightful historical context. However, some guests have encountered issues with payment methods (cash-only) and inconsistent experiences with guides.

"Sacred and special place. I had no idea this was the oldest and largest Jewish bath in Europe. The history was fascinating, I learned so much from the guide, and I am so glad I did this tour today. If you appreciate sacred or religious places, or are of Jewish descent, I recommend visiting. Other notes: tours start each half hour and last 25 minutes. I think it was about 6 Euro, give or take."

Rachel Holland

"Might be a nice place.. but the lady at the entrance seems to do every effort to not attract tourists. First was shoed away by telling me I can only enter at specific times (without offering to buy a ticket), when I insisted was told only cash is possible. In 2025, when there are probably 100 different ways to pay using just a mobile phone... What a shame!"

Jens De Pelsmaeker

"Worth to see. But much more interesting are the undergrounds in St. Filippo church. The trip is longer, cheaper and much more interesting than the short one here. You cannot make photos here unlike in the second place."
