What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Museo della Stampa Casa degli Stampatori Ebrei for its passionate and informative guided tours, which bring the history of printing and the Jewish Soncino family to life. The evocative setting in a historic building and the reasonable combined ticket price with the Rocca di Soncino are also highlights. Some reviewers suggest that the museum could benefit from modernization and more interactive elements to enhance engagement, particularly for younger visitors.
"Another gem to visit while in Soncino.
The young man did a brilliant job in telling the history of this place, jumping back and forth from English to Italian. Since the small group was mostly made up of Italians,(of course) never encountered this level of customer service.
Very impressed!!!"

"The history of the Jewish Soncino family who moved to Soncino from Germany to practice usury under invitation of the Sforzas (who would keep a considerable portion of the interest) but then resorted to printing after friars opened a Monte di Pietà, a bank that would charge smaller interests, and drove them out of business. Here the first Hebrew bible was printed with the Gutenberg method. Very interesting place to visit, with free guided tour. You just buy a multi entrance ticket for 7 euros, which also covers the Rocca."
Cristiano Nisoli
"Thirty years after Gutenberg's printing press with moveable type, this system was brought to Italy, in Soncino, strategic town in Northen Italy between Milan and Bergamo in the 15th century. In the museum you can hear the whole story from the mouth an excellent, proud, storyteller. Recommended."
