"An amazing place, well worth going out of your way to get here. The photos can't really do it justice. Carved out of rock and used for many hundred (thousand?) years, the fortress really began to take shape in the Norman period.
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes with a grip, as there are some steep sections. The climb to the top is worth it for the 360 degree view. Allow for at least an hour to get a good look around.
And, yes, you have to buy your entrance ticket at the bat next door."

"Beautiful place with wonderful views. More of a group of caves than a Castle although there is a turret on site. Could be better signposted as you’re going round. There was no mention of toilets out the back gate so assumed it would be a nice walk but just lead to the loos. Definitely wear sensible shoes and the climb to the turret is uneven. Tickets must be purchased in the nearby bar."
