What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Oasi WWF Lago di Porta is a beautiful natural reserve, praised for its rich birdlife and serene walking paths. Visitors appreciate the ecological importance and the opportunity for peaceful immersion in nature. However, some find the 'lake' to be more of a swamp, and trail conditions can be challenging due to mud and narrowness. The parking area has also been flagged as a concern for vehicle security.
"Beautiful natural reserve that you’ll for sure miss it if you don’t know it’s there.
The lake is beautiful and full of life. The path allows you to take a very long walk/run around it. It’s also possible to continue south instead of doing the ring, and after several KM you’d reach a small harbour and the sea (very far!)
There’s also a path for horses.
As the path is not continuously maintained (which is great so nature can take over) the actual walkable lane can become very small, just one person at a time in most places. Running fast can also be difficult as you need to place one foot in front of the other. Be aware there’s a lot of dog “treats” so watch out were you step.
Truly recommend to take a walk here, the nature is beautiful ✨🍀"

"A beautiful oasis rich in fauna, clean bird watching stations, unfortunately the car park is a dangerous area frequented by unsavory people who never miss an opportunity to damage and loot parked cars😡"

Understanding the Ecosystem
The natural state of the reserve means that the paths are not always perfectly maintained, allowing nature to flourish. This can lead to narrow, overgrown, and sometimes muddy trails, which adds to the wild charm but requires visitors to be prepared. The ecological significance of this area is paramount, serving as a vital stopover or home for many bird species.
For visitors, this translates into an immersive experience in nature. It's a place to slow down, observe, and appreciate the delicate balance of the ecosystem. The natural conditions are ideal for those seeking a genuine connection with the environment, far from urban distractions. :nature_tree:
Navigating the Trails
Running fast can be difficult due to the need to watch your footing. Visitors are also advised to be aware of 'dog treats' (feces) on the path, so watching where you step is important. The terrain can be muddy and flooded, especially after recent rains, turning the experience into a potentially disappointing one if not prepared. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended to handle the uneven and wet surfaces. :athletic_shoe:
Despite these challenges, the trails offer a chance to walk in harmony with nature, admiring the flora and fauna. They are perfect for nature photographers and anyone looking to relax with a healthy walk, provided they are prepared for the natural conditions.
