Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Palazzo Melatino as a hidden gem, marveling at its free admission and the fascinating blend of Roman ruins and beautifully restored medieval architecture. The exquisite collection of Castelli ceramics is another major highlight, making it a deeply rewarding cultural experience. Some visitors note that it's smaller than expected, but the quality and historical significance far outweigh any perceived size limitations.

"This is supposed to be the oldest house in Teramo. In fact you can see tile floors dating back to Roman times. Small parts but of beautiful craftsmanship. The collection of the museum consists of fine quality ceramic plates and tiles. Really excellent.. Restoration of the building and excavations took 10 years. The result is an astonishing product of modern architecture. A pleasure to visit.
The Casa Melatino is now called Teramo Palazzo Melatino."

Pieter van der Valk

"In Teramo, among the most intriguing buildings is Palazzo Melatino, probably the most important example of a medieval noble residence in Teramo, built over the ruins and foundations of an ancient Roman domus. It's incredible how many people don't even know of its existence or the treasures it holds.
Today, it's home to the Tercas Foundation, and is open almost every day, and it's free!
Visit it, because this "little museum" remains a hidden gem of Teramo's history..."

Stefano Balloni

"Fascinating restoration of a medieval building, featuring a Roman domus, ancient ceramics on display, and a hanging garden. A gem. Free."
