What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Chiesa di Sant'Alò for its deep historical significance and its role as a beautifully restored cultural venue in Terni. Its ancient architecture and the surrounding historic alleys are frequently highlighted as major draws. However, some note that the church can be quite cold inside, and the lack of nearby amenities like cafes was mentioned by a few.
"Very old, the church dates back to shortly after the year 1000, in very ancient times it was a Parish. Initially abandoned and a coal warehouse, during the twentieth century, around the end, it hosted the Poor Clares for about forty years, until their transfer to the new Monastery of Collerolletta. For some years it was the seat of the diocesan seminary then entrusted to the Orthodox community and finally, for some years it has been, duly restored, the house of the clergy."

"A beautiful Catholic church finally reopened to the public today after long restoration works but apparently dedicated to cultural events and occasionally to worship. It has a troubled history in fact about 50 years ago it was the church of cloistered nuns, then a place of worship and aggregation of local Catholic groups, then a church of Orthodox worship. I know this church for having frequented it in my youth and today the good news of the reopening to the public with an event for the inauguration."

"Unique place, sacred place for ceremonies of the Romanian Orthodox church. A unique place for me because I got married in that very church."
