Reviews Summary

The National Mountain Museum offers a unique perspective on alpine culture and boasts an observation terrace with impressive city and mountain views. While some visitors find the exhibits dated, others appreciate the historical insights and special displays. The hilltop location requires some effort to reach, but affordable entry on holidays and the scenic terrace make it a worthwhile stop for many.

"We were there on the Ferragosta public holiday, so for 1€ it’s fine. I wouldn’t want to pay more. Okay dd little museum about mountain climbing, hiking and skiing. Well, Turin/Torino is near the Alps and hosted a winter olympics. The museum is dated and pretty boring. The supposed main attraction is the terrace with an “amazing view”. Pro tip: the almost same views are available for free right next to the entrance. LOL. If you plan on walking, it’s on top of a fairly high hill. We took the municipal bus as close as we could get and then walked up the hill and it was still quite hot and challenging. either a taxi or perhaps an electric scooter would be better options."

"I was disappointed to find that the Museo Nazionale della Montagna, despite its rich narrative of alpine history, largely overlooks the countless contributions of Italian women mountaineers—from pioneers like Alessandra Boarelli to modern legends like Nives Meroi.
While I did find a film in the archives and a bivouac named for Boarelli, none of these figures were featured prominently in the public exhibits.
As a woman and a mountain lover, I expected to see at least some acknowledgment of half the community’s achievements. Including these stories would not only correct historical oversight—it could also attract a broader audience and enhance visitor experience."

"This place should be on the top 10 lists. We dropped in without expectations because we walked up for the view and had the Turin pass. It turned out to be delightful. An exhibit of a woodcut engraver and funny explanatory videos about life in the mountains."
