What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the Baronial Palace for its stunning panoramic views of Naples and the port, and the historical insights gained from guided tours. However, the dilapidated exterior condition is a significant drawback for many, contrasting with the better-maintained interior. Some travelers also note challenges with parking and interactions with local traffic wardens.
"I was able to visit the Baronial Palace during the days of the Holy Night. We were accompanied by a guide who explained everything simply and comprehensively. After entering, we ascended to the upper floor via the grand staircase at the entrance. We visited the palace's main rooms, including the mayor's office and the hall where the city council meets. I don't know if anyone remembers it, but with great fondness (and a hint of nostalgia), I recall when the palace was still abandoned and the Sunday market was held in the space in front, with many stalls. I remember it because I used to go there with my grandfather. There was also an epitaph, which, after renovations, was moved to where the fountain now stands. However, one of the palace's highlights is undoubtedly the beautiful view you can admire at the end of the corridor. You can see Naples and the port of Torre. Thanks to the mayor and all the organizers for this wonderful opportunity."

"Unfortunately, the building's current state (it's dilapidated on the outside) reflects the city's spirit: dirty and decayed everywhere. It should be the city's calling card, but it leaves much to be desired. Inside, the situation is better, especially in the large columned veranda, where you can admire the view from above."

"The palace has an interesting history dating back to Queen Joanna of Anjou, who donated it to her lover Sergianni Caracciolo to repay his debts. Caracciolo passed it on to Carafa again for debt, and it later became the property of the Curia. During the years of Aragonese rule, it was in the palace that Alfonso the Magnanimous and the beautiful Torrean Lucrezia D'Alagno met. The feudal property became public through a ransom paid by the citizens of Torre."
