What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Torre di Carlo V for its fascinating archaeological museum, free admission, and the opportunity to explore historical structures like the customs house. The guided tours, often led by knowledgeable archaeologists, are highlighted as a significant plus, bringing the history of the Tronto area to life. Some visitors hope for an expansion of the collection to further enrich the experience.
"Today 8/8/"25 at the Torrione and the customs house of Martinsicuro, an extraordinary opening was held to also show the warehouse which is usually closed (they contain sections of various excavations) and then always with a guide they made a visit to the customs house and the museum. Here you can admire the finds found in Martinsicuro in via Po years ago. Archaeologists have found a Roman road (later covered), a Roman column (visible on the State Road 16, roundabout to go to San Benedetto del Tronto.). Inside there are various objects: bronze coins, jewelry finds and shards for cooking, tools for working, and hooks for fishing and much more. There is an example of a burial dating back to the 5th - 6th century AD of a woman with funerary goods (vase, 1 bracelet) found in via Po. A settlement from the Bronze Age - Middle Early Iron Age has been documented on the Colle di Marzio Personally, I liked the decorated ceilings, the fireplace with the kitchen next to it, and the stairs (still kept as they were). The display cases, the layout, and the lighting are beautiful. It has a green area as soon as you enter. If you are in the area, it is worth a visit."

"I presented my book UMANE TRAIETTORIE in this splendid location, within the "Brindisi letterari" review curated by the Municipality of Martinsicuro. I also had the opportunity to visit the delightful archaeological museum with very interesting finds and accurate testimonies. It is a tower of great charm and it was nice to learn about its history."

"A lovely evening visit to the tower, especially the house housing many artifacts from the Tronto area. Archaeologist Martina's guided tour was excellent.
Just one piece of advice, as a FAI and Touring Club volunteer: probably don't extend the visit too late, but close at 8-8:30 pm."
