"Strolling along the narrow street in the village of Torre di Palme that leads to the panoramic square, about halfway along the route, a modest Romanesque portal, almost always closed, foreshadows the existence of the church of Sant'Agostino.
As soon as you reach the corner, however, you immediately notice a more elegant and refined portal, this one almost always open, standing out in the cross street.

A small hall in a bare Romanesque style with the first hints of Gothic affectation, and featuring the two entrances already described, houses a small treasure: a polyptych by Vittore Crivelli that stands out clearly against the rear wall, left in semi-rough dove-gray plaster, with its five partitions on two levels (a third at the base is very fragmented - ed.) of vivid and defined sacred images amidst the gleaming gold of the frames.
It was a family trait, because even the more famous brother Carlo, a prolific artist of the late 1400s who disseminated his works, generally on panel, throughout the province of Fermo and in Ascoli Piceno, was a renowned artist of polyptychs and panel paintings, always with religious or secular subjects (the latter's famous polyptych, preserved in the Cathedral of Sant'Emidio in Ascoli, has just been spruced up with a meticulous restoration (October 2021 – ed.), and other significant works, also on panel, are preserved in the Pinacoteca Civica inside the Palazzo dell'Arengo, many of which are also abroad).
A visit focused on this polyptych, placed behind the altar, is rewarding, especially since unfortunately the only obvious features are modern and jarring adaptations of fixtures, lamps, fixtures, and accessories that are inconsistent with the age of the building and the luminous beauty of the polyptych."
