The Church of the Holy Trinity, dating back to the 14th century or earlier, is first mentioned in a will from the early 15th century, where it is described as the private chapel of the Menaroli family, and remained so for a long time. Representatives of the ten municipalities of the Gardesana dall'Acqua gathered here for a religious service, along with the Captain of the Lake, before the Councils of this federation, which were held in the nearby Gardesana Palace, with which it was connected via an internal passage.
It was officiated by a rector—the most famous of whom was Don Giuseppe Marai, who died in 1745 and whose remains are preserved embedded in the wall of the small church—who often clashed with the village parish priest, especially over questions of preeminence.
We get a lot of information about this oratory from a manuscript (“Small historical notes on Torri del Benaco”), preserved in the parish, by Don Agostino Trettene, curate in Torri in 1904: from him we know that a small sacristy was annexed, built in 1698 by Don Giuseppe Marai, as was written above the door of the same one which no longer exists."
