What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Porta Botteghelle is a historically significant site in Trapani, featuring a 13th-century archway. While the arch offers a glimpse into the past, the adjacent beach is frequently described as littered and unpleasant, leading to disappointment for many visitors. The best experience is often found during sunset for photographic opportunities.
"Amazing old building converted into a hotel. The rooms are spacious and have fairly high painted ceilings. Clean room. We also had a balcony from which the sea could be seen from both directions. The service is good, only one employee speaks English, which is both a plus and a minus. The vacuum was quite rich even by European standards. I would recommend. The only place in Sicily so far that provides intimate gel and body lotion 😇🥰"

"Porta delle Botteghelle through the 13th century city walls of Trapani, Italy, leads to Spiaggia delle Mura di Tramontana. The story goes that a rich merchant Felice Serisso once hanged the head of his unfaithful wife from the gate as a warning to women."
David Stanley
"What might be a gorgeous beach is smelly and disgusting as a result of the amount of rubbish. Really disappointing that Italians don’t value what they have to properly have a sense of community responsibility. What a shame!"
