"The first mention known to us of the Torre Verde dates back to the end of the fifteenth century, a Tyrolean inventory regarding the Buonconsiglio Castle, cited as an unspecified green tower. Then around 1500 the tower became, so to speak, a home.
Even though today it overlooks a busy road intersection, until 1858, the year in which the works to straighten the Adige were completed, it was located on the river bank and represented the north-eastern cornerstone of the surrounding walls which, coming from the Buonconsiglio Castle, stopped right at Torre Verde; the tower cannot be visited"
