What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning coastal views and the historical significance of Torre di Punta Baffe. The hike is described as rewarding, with magnificent panoramas of the sea and surrounding gulfs. While the trek is generally manageable, reviewers emphasize the need for proper footwear and hydration due to some challenging sections.
"Torre di Punta Baffe is a watchtower dating back to XVII Century, built by local inhabitants with support from the Republic of Genoa to protect local populations from pirates and Turkish raiders. The walk starfs from Riva Trigoso: by following a well-indicated path, you may reach the tower within 1.5 hours. The path is not difficult, but do remember to use trekking shoes and bring some water. While walking, you have magnificent views on the gulf of Riva, as well as the blue of sea and the green of leaves of the typical macchia mediterranea (trees and bushes frlm the zone), with amazing colors and smells. When you reach the top, you can have a look of the gulfs facing other towns like Moneglia, Deiva, Framura, and when the weather is exceptionally clear you may also see the isle of Corsica. The walk down to Moneglia takes 2 more hours, but there is a decent train service. I didn't go down to Moneglia... this is the goal of my next walk and my next report!"
