What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Chiesa di San Lorenzo Varigotti for its breathtaking panoramic views of Baia dei Saraceni and Punta Crena. While the church itself is often closed, the elevated piazza offers a serene spot for reflection and photography. The short, scenic walk through Mediterranean scrub is also a highlight, making it a worthwhile detour for many.
"With a small detour from the main path, you come across this ancient brick church of San Lorenzo.
Very beautiful view of the tower and the beach of Varigotti on one side, and the bay of Saracens on the other
Stop here for a moment of peace, breath and reflection"
Heidi Iuliano - Ingegneria del Tempo
"Small church of very ancient origins in a beautiful position overlooking the Spiaggia dei Saraceni and opposite Punta Crena. Reachable with a short 5 minute walk uphill starting from the Strada Vecchia di Varigotti (the one that goes around the tunnel upstream). The building is almost always closed but through the grates you can see the interior quite well, ancient, simple and bare. The best thing is therefore the splendid views that can be enjoyed from the small square in front."
Daniele Musso
"There's no satisfaction without effort. It's not a climb, but you can feel the effort of the ascent; this prompts reflection along the way, pausing at various viewpoints to admire a typically Ligurian panorama. Mediterranean scrub surrounds this small church; to reach it, you immerse yourself in the greenery and its scents. The Pilgrim's Path continues with other natural wonders, but you can also stop here and linger in religious silence."
