What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Doge's Palace for its stunning architecture, rich history, and the fascinating insights offered by tours like the Secret Itineraries. Many highlight the grandeur of the halls and the historical significance of the Bridge of Sighs. Some find the ticket prices a bit high and note that it can get crowded, but overall, it's considered a must-visit in Venice.
"If you want to really understand the history of Venice, I highly recommend visiting three museums: Museo Correr, Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace), and the Archaeological Museum.
Museo Correr offers a fascinating look at Venice’s political, cultural, and daily life through the centuries, with paintings, maps, and artifacts.
Palazzo Ducale is the heart of Venetian power: the Doge’s residence and seat of government. Walking through its grand halls and crossing the Bridge of Sighs is an unforgettable experience.
The Archaeological Museum adds another layer with its classical sculptures and ancient finds, showing the wider Mediterranean connections of Venice.
Tip: Don’t buy the tickets separately—it’s more expensive. Instead, go for the Biglietto Unico (combined ticket) which includes all three museums for about 30€. It’s a much better deal and makes the visit smoother.
Definitely worth it if you want to dive into Venice’s rich history."

"Obviously fantastic to marvel at from the outside however the grandeur & story of this iconic building really comes to life once you’ve walked the many rooms, halls & terraces. If you do one tour in Venice this is it.
This August 2025 trip marked my second visit to the Palace which was enjoyed even more than the first.
Would strongly recommend the Doge’s Hidden Treasures Tour; a more intimate tour which allowed access to exclusive areas with the real highlight being the depth of knowledge our guide Alex shared with us throughout. A passionate man who very clearly loves history & what he does.
Seamless access with tickets booked in advance."

"A beautiful midevil palace in the heart of Venice. Over 500 years of history with this former hall of government. The design and architecture are timeless. The size of the great hall is amazing! Floor to ceiling beauty. Many of the rooms have incredible artwork on the ceiling as well. Check out the armory too! This is place connected to the former prison and allows you visit the famous Bridge of Sighs. Plan a few hours here to really appreciate it all."
