Reviews Summary
Guests appreciate the Ex Conterie Complex for its traditional Venetian charm, quiet island location on Murano, and value for money. The polite staff and clean rooms are often highlighted. However, some visitors have experienced issues with the air conditioning and found the breakfast to be quite basic.
"Hotel was pretty easy to find in our arrival at the island, it was about a 20 minute walk from the airport shuttle boat.
We were greeted by a lovely lady receptionist who took our details and checked our passports, she also mentioned that we would need to pay the tourist tax when we checked out, it worked out at €3.50 per night per person when this review was written in 2025.
We had two twin rooms, the hotel seems to be in at least two different sections, we were led up some stairs and back outside, we went past the small breakfast room and on to our rooms.
We had room 16 that is on the front side of the hotel and room 21 that looks into the terrace.
21 is the bigger of the two but both were okay, bathrooms were off a reasonable size with showers no baths here.
21 was very warm and on the first night we couldn't get anything but warm air out of the air conditioning, both rooms had air conditioned but it wasn't tried in room 16.
Breakfast is a small affair of cheese, rolls, yoghurt and small cakes, also orange juice from a machine and coffee that the person serving will make.
Now back to the air conditioning.
The first morning I went to reception and asked about the air conditioning and was presented with a shrug off the shoulders and this "everyone else is warm as well!" Nice customer service.
We were there in April so I'm not sure I would be visiting in the summer, my tip, don't have air conditioning if it doesn't work."

"The experience was great the room was clean and tidy, with traditional interior design of Venice making you feel like you are indeed in Venice. The door’s lock is safety lock, makes you feel safe in case of emergency. There is back yard and a big balcony upstairs so you can go and sit there before getting to bed, in case you don’t want to be too far from your room and wanna get some fresh air. The reception is great and happy to help with anything they can. It’s in a quiet and ‘out of town’ place to sleep so at the night it’s quiet and feels more private. Great for someone who wants to be in Venice but doesn’t like the overcrowded places."

"It is a cheaper choice though. The owner was rude, I guess it may be the italian hospitality in general, but the female receptionist was very polite, on the contrary. Making coffee in the morning for breakfast was like "why the hell did you come here?" reading in the face of the man (owner?) who was helping with the breakfast. Not the best hotel practise. Will avoid this place next time for sure."
