"Visit to St. Marcos Basilica.

This site was amazing to see and walk around in. Definitely a must-do if you have the time. Last time I visited Venice it was closed for renovations so be sure to book early, check their website and get to this site as soon as you can to avoid the lines.

Take in this historic UNESCO World Heritage Site and see what makes this place beautifully unique.

Tickets are reasonable and the tour is self-guided. Be aware that the second story (Museum) is not included in the entrance fee."

Mia Hartman

"Definitely add on the museum when visiting St Mark's Basilica. Seeing the church from the gallery is amazing. The original horses in the museum are something I have wanted to see for a long time. And the view from the terrace can't be beat!"

The Allure of the Bronze Horses

The Bronze Horses of Constantinople are arguably the most captivating artifacts within St. Mark's Museum. These ancient equestrian statues, forged before Christ, have a storied past. They were brought to Venice as spoils of war after the Fourth Crusade and later seized by Napoleon before being returned to their Venetian home. Reddit

Seeing these magnificent, gilded horses up close offers a tangible connection to centuries of history and conquest. Their presence in the museum, once photography was forbidden, now allows visitors to capture their intricate details and the surrounding Byzantine mosaics, making for a truly memorable experience. Experiencing St. Mark's Basilica: Beyond the Main Floor

The museum houses the original Bronze Horses and offers a different angle on the basilica's interior. Reddit

The highlight for many is stepping out onto the Loggia, which overlooks St. Mark's Square. From this elevated vantage point, you can capture stunning panoramic photos of the piazza, the Campanile, and the shimmering lagoon. It's a view that truly encapsulates the grandeur of Venice and offers a different appreciation for the basilica's prominent location. Reddit

Don't overlook the Pala d'Oro, a breathtaking altarpiece made of gold and enamel, often requiring a separate ticket but well worth the small additional cost for its intricate craftsmanship and dazzling beauty. Reddit
