"If you are taking the bus from Venice City parking look here!
We arrived at 12ish and the parking was full, however the parking next to (before) it was still available with a price of 7Euro (for 6 hours).
Yes you can take the bus from Park petroli (PK1 bus). However the bus stop next to the highway Righi (opposite of the park petroli) is fine aswell. However take a picture of the table with the different busses because you will need it to find the right bus on your way back from Venice. The bus table on the picture is the one to Venice from Righi.
We took bus 6 from Righi to Venice bus station (took around 15 min). You can buy your ticket online and print it out from the machine on the bus station or you can buy your ticket straight away from the machine.
The ticket will only be activated when you scan the ticket the first time. When you get of the bus at Venice station it will only be for getting off which means you have to locate the spot for getting on.
We decided to take the PK1 bus when getting back to the parking. You can get off on Righi or on the Park Petroli. Just be aware that if you get off at Righi you have to walk up stairs and cross the bridge to take the stairs down again on the other side of the highway."

"What a great transportation operation in Venice! For $17 pp you can ride any of the public transportation in Venice for 24 hours and with 90% of all travel by water the ease of this system is unmatched. We took the bus from the mainland to the island and ride the waiter taxis all day for the same ticket! The water taxis came every 12 minutes and they were fast and easy once we learned the route the water taxis take. Most water and land buses came every 12-15 minutes and literally took us everywhere with just the cost of the unlimited day pass! What a great service in a busy and unique city. Great value and great sites and runs till 1145 on weekdays. (Not sure of weekend schedule). Will stick to this system while in Venice!"

"The schedule/ route map is EXCEPTIONALLY confusing and illogical. The direction of the boat isn't clear until you've looked in the station. Right hand traffic generally departs from LEFT station and vice-versa. Nautical reasons I imagine. The boat number isn't clear either. Theyre all different colors and number conventions. And they like to strike.
HOWEVER...stalk the fantail seats and then once they open up (generally after San Marcos Sq) enjoy a nice boat ride through Venice. Way cheaper than a 30 minute gondola ride through some back calle canal.
Boats are clean but noisy. Crew is generally polite but doesn't have time to direct lost tourists. After a few tries we got it sorted and then had a grand time floating all over Venice.
Pro tip: Go see some of the quieter areas of Venice. Better food, better souvenirs, better experience. We stumbled upon a vocal/organ concert (free) in the Santa Maria Basilica."
