What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the exceptional quality of wines, particularly Amarone, and the warm hospitality experienced at Valpolicella wineries. The stunning scenery and the opportunity to visit historic estates with unique architecture and frescoes are frequently highlighted as major draws. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some mention that advance booking is essential and transportation can be a logistical challenge without a dedicated tour.
"The Valpolicella Tasting team organised an amazing experience for us. Both wineries we visited were small, beautiful, and interesting each in their different ways. The quality wines were beautifully presented and expertly explained. Very tasty local food produce accompanies the wines. Also the driver for the day was great and the van was excellent. I would 100% recommend the Valpolicella Tasting team to organise your wine tasting tour."

"Wow, what a gem of a place or should I correctly say Palace, just north of Verona in the village of Bure just a short bus ride from central Verona.
We travelled to the vineyard to sample some of their wines and tour the estate. What we actually experienced was a first rate tour of the estate, meeting the owners and hearing their story and their connection to the area, plus a tour of their beautifully restored home that was once an actual Palace. The history and the amazing frescoes of this building make it worth the visit alone. But then we were wowed by their amazing wines, olive oil and charcuterie board- what a great day!
Needless to say we left with several bottles to enjoy back at our accommodation ( it would have been more but we had carry on luggage so couldn’t take any home). They do provide a service to transport bottles to your home address.
We will return, especially as they also run an agriturismo.
Thank you again for a great experience and a big thanks to Valentina for looking after us so well."

"Mariangela collected us at the time proposed and brought us up into the hills to Palazzo Montanari Winery where we had a fantastic morning. Beautiful wines, views and a light lunch. I highly recommend Valpolicella Tasting and Winer tours. 10/10 5 star service"

🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry

🎫 🍷 Wine & Tasting
The absolute must-try wines in Valpolicella are Amarone della Valpolicella, known for its rich and complex profile, Ripasso della Valpolicella, which offers a taste of Amarone at a more accessible price, and Valpolicella Classico, a lighter, fruitier red.
Amarone della Valpolicella is a full-bodied, dry red wine made from partially dried grapes (appassimento method). This process concentrates the sugars, flavors, and alcohol, resulting in a powerful and complex wine with notes of cherry, chocolate, and spice.
Valpolicella Classico is the base wine, light and fruity. Ripasso is made by re-fermenting Valpolicella Classico on the lees (spent grape skins) of Amarone, giving it more body and complexity. Amarone is made from grapes dried for a longer period, resulting in the most concentrated and powerful wine.
Valpolicella Classico pairs well with pasta dishes, white meats, and antipasti. Ripasso is excellent with roasted meats, stews, and aged cheeses. Amarone is a perfect match for game, hearty red meat dishes, and mature cheeses.
Yes, you can almost always buy wine directly from the wineries you visit. Many offer shipping services if you purchase multiple bottles and cannot carry them home.
📸 📸 Photography
The Valpolicella wine region offers stunning photographic opportunities. Look for panoramic vineyard views, charming village streets, historic wineries like Palazzo Montanari with its frescoes, and the rolling hills bathed in golden hour light.
The 'golden hours' – shortly after sunrise and before sunset – offer the most beautiful light for photography in Valpolicella, casting a warm glow over the vineyards and landscapes. Midday can be harsh, but offers good opportunities for capturing details within wineries.
A versatile camera with a good zoom lens is ideal for capturing both wide vineyard landscapes and details within wineries. A wide-angle lens is great for sweeping vistas, while a prime lens can be useful for low-light cellar shots. Don't forget extra batteries and memory cards!
Many wineries offer unique photo opportunities, from picturesque cellars and barrel rooms to beautiful courtyards and scenic overlooks. Palazzo Montanari, with its historical architecture and frescoes, is a particularly photogenic spot.
Generally, yes, but it's always best to ask for permission before taking photos inside wine cellars, especially if flash photography is involved, as it can disturb the winemaking process or the wine itself.
