Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the architectural significance of Chiesa di Santa Maria Nuova, particularly its Palladian design and historical depth. However, its frequent closure can be a point of frustration, making pre-visit checks essential. Recent reopenings offer more opportunities to experience this unique site. Reddit

"A small church in the "porta nova" neighborhood of vicenza. It is one of the UNESCO sites connected to Palladio. Once a church for the ex-convent of the Augustin order that taught many daughters of the noble families of Vicenza. I it usually closed to public (no longer an active church and has gone from a military warehouse to a refuge center to an archive storage) it now awaits its next chapter :). It's bare but you can still appreciate its old glory."

Kathryn Gosciewski

"Santa Maria Nova is a former convent church in Vicenza from the late sixteenth century attributed to the architect Andrea Palladio, who designed it around 1578 without being able to see it built."

Mauro

"After 17 years, the new municipal council has reopened it to the public! Two experimental days were held in collaboration with the FAI, and we've been told regular openings will soon be organized."
