Reviews Summary

The Portici di Monte Berico are lauded as a significant historical and architectural landmark, offering a beautiful pilgrimage route to the Sanctuary. Visitors appreciate the elegant 18th-century design and the spiritual atmosphere. However, some recent concerns have been raised regarding graffiti and the presence of homeless individuals impacting the site's pristine appearance.

"The Arcades of Mount Berico are an architectural highlight that reflects both historical significance and serene beauty. These porticoes, also known as "portici," are among the most charming features of the region and an essential part of the mount's allure.

The arcades were constructed in the 18th century and are part of the pilgrimage route to the Sanctuary of Monte Berico, a major religious site in the area. The porticoes serve not only as a walkway but also symbolize the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual heritage of Vicenza. Each column and archway tells a story of devotion and artistry, making the arcades a living testament to the craftsmanship of the era.

The design of the arcades is both elegant and functional. The combination of arches and columns creates a rhythmic sequence that is visually striking, providing a stunning view of the surrounding landscape. The architecture showcases a harmonious blend of Baroque influences, with intricate details that invite visitors to explore further. The use of local materials adds a distinctive character to the structure, highlighting the connection between the site and its environment.

Overall, the Arcades (Portici di Monte Berico) represent a perfect blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty. Whether you're interested in spirituality, architectural design, or simply looking for a scenic view, the arcades offer a unique experience worth exploring. Don’t miss the chance to take a leisurely walk along this historic path and enjoy the breathtaking views that have inspired countless visitors over the years."

"A portico leading up to Monte Berico with a small shrine to Mary half-way up the hill. During certain religious holidays there is s procession that the faithful take up the walkway to the Basilica at the top of the hill. You can walk within the portico or next to it. There are also frescoes periodically along the way which I believe are stations of the cross"

Angelo Serra

"Erroneously thought these were the 'stairs' of Monte Berico but later realized that the stairs are in a slightly different location. Both lead to the same location in the end but the porticos offer a slightly shorter path. The porticos were pretty cool to walk up though. It is a purely architectural feature as there is not much going on as you walk up the hill."
