What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors note that Villa Medicea di Cafaggiolo is a historically significant Medici residence, praised for its architectural importance and picturesque Tuscan setting. However, many recent reviews highlight that the villa is currently closed for renovations, often covered in scaffolding, preventing interior visits.
"Drove by on August 20, 2016. The castello is closed for renovations and fully covered by construction netting and scaffolding."
Yuri Perez
"Under reconstruction in June 2016 when I walked by."
Craig Hodges
"It is one of the most famous Medici villas. Frequently visited by Lorenzo the Magnificent, it was built around 1451 for the Medici family by Michelozzi.
Its rooms were the site of the murder (today we would call it femicide) of Dianora di Toledo, committed in 1576 by her husband Piero de' Medici, the youngest son of Cosimo I.
It is currently being renovated and not open to the public. There are also serious doubts about its future usability, as it is privately owned and, with its numerous annexes, is expected to become a huge resort.
Hmm..."
