Visitors find Port Royal to be a historically significant site with a unique charm, particularly appreciating the Naval Dockyard and the stories of its pirate past. However, some feel the presentation of history could be more contemporary and engaging, with the physical site being somewhat limited beyond key exhibits like the Giddy House and cannons.
"I took my students here on a school field trip. The tour guide seemed to know a lot of information about the property. However, the tour was a bit dull as there was not much to the place other than the giddy house which was not much either. They did have a mechanic cannon which got the students quite excited to see the lunch process. Overall, I thought they could have conveyed the information about the property history in a more contemporary way. This would have the students and other visitors more involved in the tour. Overall, it's just a sinking house and cannons on a large open lot."
